Life is so fragile. The gifts we are given can come and then in a flash,"poof"...are gone, like a disappearing magic act, leaving us stunned and bewildered to find ourselves without them. Our only true comfort can be with what lasts forever; what can never be taken away and accompanies us every moment of our lives - our connection to our Creator.
While looking forward to the last sip of a cocktail, or fixating on the final spoonful of that savory blended soup, I'm longingly wishing to complete, it's suddenly snatched - uprooted... taken away by the waiter, without even a thought of my attachment to that last delicious spoonful! Taken prematurely from my grasp, never to be seen or tasted again; reminding me me how nothing is quite ours and is a gift.
In the same way, our relationships can be so heartfelt, real, and yet can seem so tenuous and illusory. We want to hold on forever and keep our teddy bears all lined up; easily accessed to provide us with our emotional and physical needs. Our binkys. Love runs deep and we bask in each moment and want it to remain forever and a day.
All these connections are part of a team or network of family, friends and acquaintances bestowed upon us to gather our resources and support for the fulfillment our purpose or mission. They are treasured and we can thank God for each and every person He places on our path. At the same time, we can feel comforted to have Him hold our hand, as we travel in this world and the next.
Love has no bounds. We are all part of His beneficence and can feel grateful for his unwavering connection and love for us, and the relationships specifically designed to enhance our service.
